Tip #1
Suits should be a couple sizes down from your normal waist/chest size. For example, boys that have a 30 inch waist should get no larger than a 28 for a swim suit. Same goes for girls - buy at least a size down because the suit will stretch with use and breakdown from the chlorine.
Tip #2
Goggles break. Get more than one pair, just in case. The best goggles are the ones that have less parts. The more parts, the more they break. Swedish goggles are always a great option - they are less than $5 and durable.
Tip #3
Fins should be snug when you try them on. If they are squeezing your foot and it hurts, try the next size up. However, if you can move your foot inside the fin and your foot slides, try one size down.
